Technical Evaluation of Cordaid Partners-Water Sector Interventions Kenya Drought Cycle Management Program

The Cordaid Partners have contracted Frame Consultant Ltd to conduct the evaluation as titled above. The objective of the assignment is to assess the water interventions (outputs) implemented within the programme and confirm technical sufficiency; draw lessons learnt and proposed ways of improving the quality of on-going and future water and environmental sanitation interventions.

Managing Water for African Cities: Phase II .Consultancy Services for Kibera Project Component Design

The objective of the study is to undertake a rapid assessment of the state of existing physical & social Water Sanitation Infrastructure in the Kibera settlement Nairobi

Feasibility study for water and sanitation facilities in five towns of Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Nyahururu and Garissa in Northern Water Services Board.

Garissa: The Objective of the study is design to investigate current operations and yield of the existing ground water source located within Barasa well field. Then explore the qualitative and quantitative potential of Barasa well field as an alternative source of water to meet the ultimate water demand for Garissa town and its environs.  The study will also come up with the necessary engineering and hydro geological recommendations to allow exploitation of Barasa wellfield and to connect to the existing water supply infrastructure.

Isiolo:  The Objective of the Study is to identify new  sources of water for Isiolo Town and expansion needs of the existing sewerage and to prepare Preliminary Designs with respect to the same. The Study is expected to prepare TOR for detailed Design.

Marsabit:   The Objective of the Study is to identify new  sources of water for Marsabit Town  to meet the current and future demand, and a new water borne sanitation system.The Study is expected to prepare Preliminary Designs and TOR for detailed Designs.

Mandera:  The Objective of the study is to assess and come up with recommendations on the adequacy of the present and/or alternative source(s) of water for Mandera Town  and its satellite townships to meet the current and future demand in terms quality and quantity, and a new water borne sanitation system.The Study is expected to prepare Preliminary Designs and TOR for detailed Designs.

Nyahururu:   The Objective of the study is to assess and come up with recommendations on the adequacy of the present and/or alternative source(s) of water for Nyahururu Town  and its satellite townships to meet the current and future demand in terms quality and quantity, and a new water borne sanitation system.The Study is expected to prepare Preliminary Designs and TOR for detailed Designs.

Consultancy Services to carry out final Design, Environmental Impact Assessment and Preparation of tender documents for the proposed Ijara Water Canal in Ijara District

The objective of this assignment is to carry out the final and environmental impact assessment of the proposed Ijara water canal for the purposes of minimizing effects of floods and for water supply for the communities. The proposed canal is 150 km and the detailed activities for this assignment are on going.

Functional analysis for the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Headquarters and National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA)

Feasibility Studies for 4 No. Irrigation scheme in Meru Central and Embu Districts respectively

The assignment focused on three existing small holder irrigation schemes and one large irrigation scheme with the view of identifying areas to upgrade and augment so that a larger number of beneficiaries could be served.

Development of the River Basin Management Plans for Tungu River in Meru South District

The project involved Data collection covering all activities such as environmental, socio-economic and engineering and also Compilation of data, analysis of the same and development of appropriate RBM plans.

Technical support to the Environmental Programme Support (EPS) in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, in terms of reviewing of programme documents as well as setting an approach for carrying out a Functional Analysis for MENR HQ and NEMA. The EPS involves the development of a National Environmental Policy, identification and adoption of Strategic Environmental Management in Kenya as well as training and advocating for best environmental practices on community based projects.
